Details about a proposed law to legalize assisted dying in England and Wales have been published, rekindling debate on the controversial topic ahead of a vote in Parliament later this month.

A proposed law to legalise assisted dying for terminally ill adults in England and Wales has been formally introduced in the House of Commons. MPs are due to debate and vote on the bill on 29 November - further debates and votes would be needed before the bill becomes law.

The proposed law has polarised opinion and has split the governing Labour Party. Lawmakers will vote on the proposed law on Nov. 29, almost 10 years since parliament rejected an earlier bid to legalise assisted dying.

The British parliament published an assisted-dying draft bill Tuesday that would give terminally ill adults with less than six months to live the legal right to end their lives with the help of medical professionals.

A new law has been proposed to legalise assisted dying for some terminally ill adults in England and Wales. Mentally competent adults with a life expectancy of six months or less who have a settled wish to die that has been approved by two doctors and the High Court would be able to do so under the proposed legislation for England and Wales.

This week will see the return of the Assisted Dying Bill to parliament as it is published for the first time. A debate on the bill later this month will be the first time the controversial issue has been voted on in the Commons in almost a decade.
